Z-Fold Card – December POM

| | | |

As December comes to a close, I’d love to share one more project that I created using the December Product of the Month – True Blue Florals Designer Series Paper. Today’s project is a fun Z-fold card. These are one of my favorite fun folds because they look impressive but are actually very easy to make. This design is perfect for showing off beautiful patterned paper (like the December POM) and adding a few special details.

Card Base

Basic White Thick Cardstock: 12″ x 5½”
Final card size: 4″ x 5½”
1. Score along the 12″ side at 4″ and 8″.
2. Measure down 3″ from the top left edge.
3. Cut diagonally from that mark to the top center score line.
4. Fold on the score lines to create a Z-fold.

Front Panel

Balmy Blue DSP: 3¾” x 3⅝”
1. Measure down 1⅜” from the top left side.
2. Cut diagonally from that mark to the upper right corner.
3. Adhere to the front panel of the card base.

Inside Panels

Inside Center Panel – Floral DSP: 3¾” x 5¼”
• Measure down 1⅜” from the top left side and cut diagonally to the upper right corner.
• Adhere to the inside center panel.

Inside Outer Panel – Floral DSP: 3¾” x 5¼”
• Measure down 1⅜” from the top right side and cut diagonally to the upper left corner.
• Adhere to the inside outer panel.

Inside Layering

  • Night of Navy Floral DSP: 3¾” x 5¼”
  • Basic White Cardstock: 2″ x 3″
  • Balmy Blue Cardstock: 2¼” x 3¼”

Layer the white cardstock onto the Balmy Blue cardstock, then adhere the layered piece to the inside center panel over the Night of Navy DSP.

Decorating & Finishing Touches

  • Fussy cut flowers from coordinating DSP and adhere them to the top of the card front, letting them hang over the edge slightly.
  • Die cut leaves from Night of Navy cardstock using the Creative Haven or Petals of Beauty dies and tuck them under the flowers.
  • Stamp “I Appreciate You” on white cardstock, die cut with the Words of Beauty rectangle die, trim one end, and pop it up with Dimensionals.
  • Add a die-cut flower to the inside and stamp “I’m so grateful” from the Banner Sayings stamp set.

This Z-fold layout is a wonderful way to add interest while still keeping your card easy to mail. It’s a design you can easily adapt with different papers, colors, and sentiments. I hope you’ll give it a try with the True Blue Florals DSP and a few other DSPs. Don’t forget that you can get the True Blue Florals DSP this month for only $5 with a $75 order.
