Delicate Dreams Birthday Card

| | | |

Today I’m sharing a special handmade birthday card I created for a dear friend, featuring the beautiful Delicate Dreams Designer Series Paper from Stampin’ Up! This elegant floral card idea is perfect for birthdays and showcases how Designer Series Paper (DSP) can do so much of the work for you with its soft patterns and stunning metallic accents.

For the focal point, I fussy cut several flowers and leaves directly from the DSP to create a layered, dimensional look. This fussy cut card technique adds depth and detail without a lot of extra supplies. I paired those with additional die cut leaves and stems using the Delicate Whispers Dies and the gorgeous Earthen Toned Metallic Specialty Paper. The mix of textures, layers, and metallic shine really brings the elegant handmade card design to life.

To tie everything together, I colored a few White Butterflies from the new 2026-2028 In Color Butterflies embellishments with the SU200 Blends Marker. I also colored a few Rhinestone Basic Jewels as well. This simple cardmaking tip helps perfectly match embellishments to your project, especially when working with metallic accents and coordinated color palettes.

The sentiments on both the front and inside of the card were stamped in Versamark ink and heat embossed with Bronze embossing powder for a rich, polished finish. This heat embossing technique adds a beautiful shine and texture that complements the metallic elements on the card. The sentiments are from the new Lily of the Valley stamp set, available beginning May 5 in the new Stampin’ Up! catalog.

I didn’t stop at the outside. I added a few extra fussy cut flowers to the inside of the card for a cohesive and thoughtful detail. Adding a few touches to the inside of your card is a great way to elevate your DIY handmade cards and make them feel even more special.

This card was such a joy to create and felt like the perfect way to honor a truly special friend.

Be sure to check out the full supply list below. I’ll update the list with links to the butterfly embellishments and the Lily of the Valley stamp set as soon as they become available on May 5.
