Sneak Peek: Sunset & Scenic Coast Lighthouse Card

| |

There’s something so inspiring about creating with brand new products, and today I’m excited to give you a little sneak peek at a couple of fun products coming out on May 5!

This card was created using the upcoming Sunset Coast stamp and die bundle along with the gorgeous Scenic Coast Specialty Designer Series Paper. The moment I saw this collection, I was hooked. The water on the DSP has the most beautiful iridescent detail that shifts color as you move it, and it truly brings the whole scene to life. (See the video below.)

To create the focal point, I started with a 4″ x 5¼” piece of Basic White Thick cardstock and die cut the detailed lighthouse scene. To add a bit of texture and a subtle nautical feel, I used the Simply Scored Scoring Tool to emboss vertical lines across the panel. It’s a simple step, but it adds a bit of interest.

Next, I die cut a thin oval from another piece of Basic White cardstock using a circle die from the Springtime Scenes dies. I adhered this around the edge of the lighthouse opening to give it a more finished, framed look.

For the background, I cut a piece of the Scenic Coast DSP to 4¼” x 5½” and adhered it to a Night of Navy cardstock base. Then I layered the die cut and embossed panel on top using Dimensionals, leaving a ⅛” border so that the stunning colors of the DSP can peek through.

The sentiment, also from the Sunset Coast stamp set, was stamped in Night of Navy ink on Basic White cardstock. I used one of the banner dies from the new Sweet Words & Labels dies to cut it out, then popped it up with Dimensionals for a bit of added depth.

I didn’t want to forget the inside of the card, so I added a soft, dreamy sky effect. I hand cut a few cloud shapes to use as stencils and blended Misty Moonlight ink around them with a Blending Brush to create a subtle cloud background. The finishing touch was adding a few small birds, die cut from the Sunset Coast dies, to tie everything together.

This card was extra special to create because I designed it for our team card swap using new products that will be available on May 5. I love being able to share these early peeks with you, and I can’t wait for you to get your hands on these beautiful new items.

Be sure to check back on May 5 to see all the new releases. You are going to love them! (I’ll update the product list below with the new products once they are available.)
