Accordion Paper Flower Tutorial – My First Video

| | | |

Well gang…I bit the bullet and finally made my first video tutorial! (Mind you, because it is my very first one, it is a little rough around the edges, but I thought I’d share it anyway.)

We are making these fun banners at my Creative Club this month and part of the project is making accordion flowers to go on the pennants. I thought it would be fun idea to share the instructions with all of you. They are really easy to make (and very addicting!)

Without further ado, “how to make accordion flowers”…

  1. GREAT job. I'm so impressed. You make your accordian flowers differently than I do so it was fun for me to learn a new way.

  2. How is this rough around the edges??? Great video, and very professional with the music and the credits. And I even learned a new way to make these, thanks!

  3. I totally agree that this is a very professional video. It's hard to believe that it's your first! Congrats on a job very well done 🙂

  4. Wonderful video, Lisa! As a fellow CTMH'er and a long time admirer of your work, I think your creativity in video will be great, too! Love the the music at the end to show the banner and the "curtain" look for your credits. Hope to see another one soon…

  5. What an awesome video Lisa! VERY well done! You even had a title page, credits, music, WOW! Very well done, my friend!

  6. I agree with the other comments; this looks very professional! You are a natural at this!

Thank you for another way to make these accordion paper flowers. I think this looks easier than the way I've been doing it (of course, I haven't tried the squish technique yet, but I think I can do it!). I'm also glad that you mentioned that I can score before cutting the paper. I've always wondered if I could. This makes it all MUCH easier!

Thanks! As always, you are quite an inspiration!

  7. Okay…you must have been reading my mind! I have been searching my catalog to find instructions!
Your video is wonderful and I cant wait to start making these! Thank you!!!

  8. You'd never guess this is your first tutorial!! Awesome job – – super-professional, clear, and easy to follow. Excellent job! I hope you do more… 🙂

  9. Lisa, Loved the video. It was so timely as just this week I have been thinking of making these paper flowers again, but couldn't remember all the steps. The first I saw them was in a KeyNotes from about 3 years ago. Back then you had to stitch them together so I was very happy to see how easy your method looks. So quick. I think I might make a banner myself to put in my office. Off to check out Karen's banner
Thanks for sharing your video. Look forward to more I hope!!

  10. Funny, I was just looking up this past weekend on how to make pinwheel/accordian flowers and yours seemed so much easier than cutting 4 squares then back and fkorth folding them and taking that finished section and foling it in half and adhering them all to form a circle. Yourflower looked kind of big and you used 1 1/2 strips. How big is the diameter of your flower and what size to make smaller ones? Good video!

  11. Great Job Lisa! I can't wait to see more of your videos. I would love to make one, but don't know where to begin.

I am so happy I saw this as I am dying to make a banner and wanted to use these beautiful flowers.

Thanks and have fun creating your next video!

  12. Lisa you did an absolutely AMAZING job on this video! I have yet to make an actual medallion because I had a hard time understanding how to adhere it when I worked on one for my altered clipboard project. This is such an easy peasy way of doing it and I THANK YOU for sharing. HUGS

  13. Wow, this is a fantastic medallion and tutorial. This is your first tutorial? it is like you have been doing it for years, is very professional. Thank you, you have certainly inspired me and I am away to practice making medallions now! Your welcome banner is also gorgeous. Very well done. Best wishes from a newbie on the block!
