Who Says You Need Stamps? Create a Beautiful Card Using Only Designer Series Paper!

| | |

When you think about cardmaking, stamps are usually one of the first supplies that come to mind. But what if I told you that today’s card was created without using a single stamp? This project is proof that Designer Series Paper can do all the heavy lifting when it comes to creating a beautiful handmade card!

For this card, I started with the stunning Artisan Sketched Garden Designer Series Paper. I was immediately drawn to the black-and-white floral pattern and knew it would be perfect for adding custom color with Stampin’ Blends Markers.

Using Cloud Cover, Granny Apple Green, and Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends, I selectively colored portions of the floral background, leaving plenty of the black-and-white design visible. This simple technique creates a striking look while keeping the card soft and elegant.

For the focal point, I colored one of the flowers-in-a-vase images from the Designer Series Paper using the same color palette. After coloring, I carefully fussy cut the image with Detailed Scissors (available on July 1) so it could become the centerpiece of the card.

To help everything stand out, I layered both the background paper and focal panel onto Basic Black cardstock. Before adhering the vase image, I lightly blended Daffodil Delight ink onto the Basic White panel with a Blending Brush. The soft yellow glow behind the vase adds warmth and helps draw your eye directly to the focal image.

I also added a few subtle speckles using the Dark Cloud Cover Stampin‘ Blends Marker. To create this effect, I tapped the brush tip of the marker against another marker, allowing tiny droplets of color to splatter across the background. It’s a simple detail, but it adds just the right amount of texture and interest.

The vase image was popped up with Stampin‘ Dimensionals for added depth. To finish the card, I chose a sentiment from the Greetings for All Mix & Match Ephemera Pack and colored the outlined letters with the Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends Marker to coordinate with the rest of the design.

I love how this card shows that you don’t need stamps or complicated techniques to create something beautiful. A piece of Designer Series Paper, a few Stampin’ Blends Markers, and a little fussy cutting can go a long way!

If you’ve never tried creating a card without stamps, I encourage you to give it a try. You might be surprised by how much creativity you can unlock with the supplies already sitting on your craft table.
