Quick and Easy Easter Gift

| | |

With Easter coming up this Sunday, I thought I would share a gift that I made that is perfect for celebrating the Lord’s resurrection. I used Close to my Heart’s Silver Base and Bling to create a necklace that highlights my favorite bible verse—Jeremiah 29:11 which says: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

I watercolored a piece of paper and when it dried, I ran it through my printer to print the bible verse. I attached the Oval Glass Cover using my Xyron adhesive and then adhered it to the Oval Pendant. I added the Silver chain and I was done. (It was such a quick and easy…and fun…project to make.)

To wrap the necklace, I stamped a muslin drawstring bag using the Rejoice stamp set. Make sure you put a piece of cardstock inside the bag before you stamp it just in case the ink bleeds through. I used regular dye based ink and it worked great. (Tip: the drawstring bags are on clearance right now for just $1.25 for 3 bags, and once they are sold out they won’t be available again.)
I added a little shredded, crinkle paper to the bag and then placed the necklace inside and it made a quick and easy gift. I am hoping the recipient will be encouraged by the verse each time she wears the necklace.

  1. So beautiful! But I'm confused – what did you run through the Xyron? I'm used to using liquid glass. Would that be bad for the watercolor paper?

    1. Thanks Carol. I actually used my Xyron adhesive to attach the glass instead of using Liquid Glass because I was afraid that the Liquid Glass might make the watercolor paint and the print bleed. I usually use the Large Adhesive Dots when I make my Base & Bling, but since the Dots weren't quite large enough to cover the entire oval shape, I used my Xyron machine. 🙂
