Chalk It Up – Back to School Layout

| | |
Many of you know that my daughter has struggled with anxiety over the past few months. (You can read more about it here.) I have been a little worried about school starting again because I had no idea how she would do. She has been in counseling all summer and we have been working hard to help her get ready for the new school year, and I am SO HAPPY to report that it went well and she loves her new teacher and her new class. Praise God!!!

I knew that the new Chalk It Up Collection would be perfect to scrapbook the kid’s first day of school. I haven’t finished my son’s layout yet, but I wanted to share my daughter’s layout with you. We created this layout at Cindy Baker’s team meeting a few weeks ago. I didn’t add any embellishments to it at that time because I wanted to wait to see what kind of photos I would be putting on it first. (Thanks for the layout idea Cindy!)

One of the things I love most about the Chalk It Up Collection is this Dimensional Elements piece in the Chalk It Up Compliments pack that says, “Every accomplishment starts with the decision to try.” I could not have found a more perfect sentiment if I had written it myself. I am so proud of my little girl for working to overcome her fears and being willing to try going to school again.
Here she is with her new teacher. You can tell the photos on the left were taken at the beginning of the day when she was still nervous. The photo with her new teacher was taken at the end of the day. Look at that big smile! She had a great first day and I am so proud of her. The best thing about scrapbooking this day is that my daughter can look back years from now and be encouraged by how she was able to tackle her anxiety successfully.

All supplies used are from CTMH unless otherwise noted:

Ink: Black, Flaxen, Sorbet

  1. I am so happy that things are working out for you guys and that she likes her teacher. This layout and paper set are both so lovely and are perfect for back to school. I also am a huge fan of those complements and the "every accomplishment" quote which fits so well. Thanks for sharing.
